Hey there everybody in ConstantComedy land - just a brief note to say thanks to the Guardian for nominating us in an 'innovation' category at their inaugural Media Awards. We didn't win, but hey it was an honour just to be nominated as they say!, (not bad considering ConstantComedy is just a couple of us workin' away - not some big ol' company with cubicles, and receptionists and photocopiers and coffee makers and...hmmm...actually a coffee maker would be nice).
Anyway, also big thanks to everyone that's been uploading videos and making this site worthwhile - we've had interesting reports from our friends in the industry that talent scouts are now noticing and picking up the talent that's been seen on the site! It's great knowing that we're doing our part to help foster new talent - keep up the good work everybody!

Hey there folks - hope all is well in comedy land. We've added a raft of new features today which we're all excited about!
You can now rate a video anywhere in the site, not just on the 'Live Service', and we've improved our Messaging System, Email Alerts, Comment Areas and other stuff as well.
As always there willl be kinks to work out as we test the new functionality - so please bear with us as we make this site as great as we can! :)

Well good news folks - uploaded videos are now being 'thumbnailed' properly and the 'dual-uploading' system is working well - seems pretty robust.
Now on to making the rating system more friendly - within the next couple o' weeks you'll be able to rate videos wherever they are on the site - not just when they're playing in the Live Service.
Also we've got some new social networking tools coming online which it'll make easy for you comedians to let your fans know when and where you're gigging!

Congratulations to Jo King, (if that is her real name!), for winning our first 'Crowd Rating' Competition with 'Commercial Break 1 S&M Pot Snack', which can be seen here:

The video received the highest Crowd rating during its premiere in the 'Live Service, (if you haven't used the 'Live Service' check it out - it allows you to watch the videos on a 'Live Stream' with other folks - and you can vote vids on or off and chat). To use it go to:

Jo wins a Sanyo Xacti HD2 Hi-Def Video Camera for her trouble. Which is pretty cool actually - the earlier model was what I used to shoot some sketches with comedians in the 'Alpha' stage of CCC.
It's a fun camera, easy to hold in one hand and you can shoot an hour of hi-def on SD Card - no tape! To see an example of it in action take a look at the 'So You Think You're Funny' winner Richard Sandling's video 'Film Hooligans' :

Recent video uploaders will have noticed that their videos are not getting 'thumbnailed' - and hence don't look as engaging as everybody else's.
Rest assured that we're working on this and it will be fixed soon. Also thanks for your patience as we work on improving the site on a daily basis.
I hate that style that so many 'Web 2.0' websites have of being all chummy, I always figure they're some huge mega-corporation hiding behind a smiley face. But in our case we really are only a couple of guys in an office. I guess this is my way of saying thanks for using ConstantComedy.com when we're still in such early days and thanks for all the emails with suggestions on how we can improve our service! :)

Uploading is back Dear Viewers and Contributors. We've improved it by giving you two options:
1) The Standard Upload - This is the kind of Upload system you see on a majority of Video Sites - just fill in the video info and browse to the file you want to upload, easy peasy.
2) The Fast Uploader - this is still in Beta so it may not work for everyone, but it will be convenient for those on a slower internet connection.
Instead of uploading your large video file to our server to be compressed, the Fast Uploader downloads an 'applet' to your computer which compresses the video down to a small file size and then uploads it - meaning the upload time is usually only a few minutes, much shorter than the Standard Uploader and other sites.
This is cool technology and I think we're the first in the world to use it :)... but it is in Beta and will not work for everyone. Don't forget you can always use the Standard Uploader if it doesn't work for ya.

Hey there ConstantComedy.com fans - our 'Upload a Video' facility will be offline for a couple of days while we upgrade it.
A big thank you to everybody who's contacted us with suggestions on how to improve the Upload experience - we've taken your input on-board and our system will be back online in a couple of days: it should be easier to use, more robust and able to handle a wider range of video formats.

I had the pleasure of working with Zoe Lyons a couple of months back for ConstantComedy - we shot a bunch of wee sketches adapted from her stand-up material.
We've just heard that she's just been nominated for the IF.Comedy Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Fringe this year!

Welcome to the ConstantComedy.com public beta launch! After several months of rapid development we're finally open to the public.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the kind alpha and private beta testers who helped us get here. You deserve high praise indeed!
The site is continually being updated at the moment so please don't be too alarmed if a few things don't work properly yet. However, if you do find anything broken, or just not to your liking, it would be great if you could post it on the message board, or email support@constantcomedy.com.
